ChatGPT can tell a story if you upload 4 pictures, but get the prompts right!

I uploaded the pictures and used these prompts after I corrected two mistakes in the four descriptions ChatGPT produced.

- Can you retell the story in the four pictures at the level of a student at B1 on the CEFR scale?

- Could you make the story sound a little bit more conversational?

Transcript of ChatGPT's more conversational version of the story:

So, there’s this guy riding his bike down the street. Suddenly, he crashes into a truck that’s turning the corner. He falls and gets hurt pretty badly, and his bike is all messed up. The truck driver sees what happened and rushes over to help. He quickly calls for an ambulance. The paramedics arrive and put the injured cyclist on a stretcher to take him to the hospital. The truck driver stands by, looking really worried about what happened.

The above is a companion video to the one below where a I am telling the same story (in Catalan).

If a student had told ChatGPT this story in English, it might be a good idea to then see how good ChatGPT itself is at retelling the same story.

I tried uploading the same pictures to Copilot, Gemini and Claude. Here's what Copilot produced:

Copilot:

Picture A: A person is riding a bicycle on the street. It is a sunny day, and there are cars parked on the side of the road. The cyclist is looking straight ahead.

Picture B: Suddenly, someone in a parked car opens their door. The cyclist does not see it in time and crashes into the door. The cyclist falls off the bicycle.

Picture C: The cyclist is now on the ground, hurt. The bicycle is also on the ground. A person walking by sees the accident and comes to help.

Picture D: An ambulance arrives. The medical team helps the injured cyclist. A police officer talks to the person who opened the car door to understand what happened.

This story shows why it is important to be careful when opening car doors and to always watch out for cyclists.

Gemini:

A man is riding a bicycle down a street. He is wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase. He is in a hurry. A truck is turning the corner. The man does not see the truck. The truck hits the man. The man falls to the ground. He is hurt. People run to help him. An ambulance takes the man to the hospital.

Claude:

Certainly, let me describe the story in the four images in a clear and concise way, suitable for a B1 level student on the CEFR scale:
Image A shows a person riding a bicycle on a city street. The buildings and surroundings
suggest an urban setting.
Image B depicts a person falling off a bicycle on a snowy street. The scene conveys a sense of danger or an accident.
Image C shows a person falling off a cart or wagon on a city street. The person appears to have lost their balance or control of the vehicle.
Image D presents a scene with a person being attended to by emergency personnel, likely after some kind of incident or accident. The image suggests a more serious situation.
Overall, the sequence of images tells a story of various accidents or incidents involving people on bicycles and other modes of transportation in a city environment. The progression from relatively minor incidents to a more serious situation creates a narrative that a B1 level student could understand and discuss.
